Floods may cause some to evacuate their homes
RIVERVALE, AR - Rising waters may force some people in Region 8 to leave their homes and for a small Poinsett County community, water surrounds them. Rivervale sits just east of Trumann and north of Marked Tree, and the Little River that flows near the town is getting higher and higher.

Trumann woman dies in single car accident
CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR - A Trumann woman died in Craighead County after her car hit a culvert on Sunday. According to Arkansas State Police, Morgan Smith, 29, was driving north on Highway 63 near Craighead County Road 140 when her Dodge car ran off the road and hit a culvert at around 1:45 p.m. No one else was involved in the accident.

$14K in donations help Trumann boy get service dog
A Trumann boy with Asperger's syndrome will soon get to call an assistance dog his best friend after donations totaling $14,000 poured in to help his family buy the canine. The Jonesboro Sun reports a service dog costs about $22,000.

Trumann rescue group unable to take in more dogs
TRUMANN, AR - A Trumann organization dedicated to saving dogs is currently full and unable to take in anymore. The Trumann Arkansas Pet Savers group began about a year ago and has saved about 90 dogs since then.

HARRISBURG, AR - Students from 4 different Poinsett County schools came together Monday to discuss issues kids their age struggle with. About 20 students each from Marked Tree, Trumann, Harrisburg and East Poinsett County high schools met in Harrisburg for a teen summit.

'Pizza party' leads to child rape charge
TRUMANN, AR - A man accused of raping a young girl told police he was just having a "pizza party" when he got into bed with the child. Donald Havens, 48, of Trumann is charged with raping a person less than 14 years of age.

Police: Man raped woman to collect her husband's debt
TRUMANN, AR - A Region 8 man is charged with rape after police said he sexually assaulted a woman to collect a debt. Jimmy Lee Dye, 31, of Trumann is charged with rape, aggravated assault and terroristic threatening, according to the Trumann Police Department.

Students make children's books for good cause
TRUMANN, AR - Region 8 middle school students were at Cedar Park Elementary Friday to show students another way to read. The seventh graders from Trumann Intermediate Center created children's books on laptops and brought them to the school to share with the elementary students.

Trumann teen who tried to break up fight attacked
TRUMANN, AR - The Trumann School District suspended several students for their roles in a fight at the new high school, according to Superintendent Myra Graham. Graham told Region 8 News that 2 girls got into a fight on Tuesday, May 5, after a PARCC test.

Father of missing 4-year-old searches for answers
PARAGOULD, AR - A Region 8 man continues to search for his four-year-old daughter after his ex-wife's arrest. Brandon Lee said Millington, TN police arrested his ex-wife, 31-year-old Christine Rebecca Flick, Sunday.
