When James Wray began the new year, he set three goals: He wanted to break the 100-bushel-yield barrier for soybeans in 2016; he wanted to exceed the Arkansas Soybean Research and Promotion Board's 120-bushels-per-acre-by-2020 goal in 2017; and he wanted to beat the world record within the next 10 years. The world record got moved up -- to 171 bushels per acre -- but Wray, who is in his second full year of farming, came painfully close to accomplishing both of the other goals for 100-plus bushels and 120 bushels per acre and claiming the $10,000 prize that went with the latter.
Woman arrested for impersonating police investigator
TRUMANN, AR - Trumann police arrested a Lepanto woman for impersonating an Arkansas State Police investigator. According to the department, Misty Stevens was arrested after police received a complaint that she was impersonating an investigator with the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division.

TRUMANN, AR - Arkansas State Police are now involved in the investigation into a woman who impersonated an Arkansas State Police investigator. According to Trumann police, one of the first reports of Misty Stevens impersonating an investigator came from a local shelter after they saw her carrying a gun.

Empty boat leads to body discovery
Authorities found the body of a Trumann man in the St. Francis River on Thursday after someone reported seeing a driverless boat motoring down the waterway. Crews found Millard Branum, 77, near Ditch 60 of the river, known locally as "DeadA end Ditch," Poinsett County Sheriff Larry Mills said in a news release.

TRUMANN, AR - Police are asking the public for help in finding two burglary suspects. A Trumann Police Department officer discovered Trumann Drug Co., 213 Arkansas Highway 463, was burglarized Monday morning, according to a Facebook post from the department.

Trumann man killed while walking on road
JONESBORO, AR - 3:00 a.m. UPDATE: Arkansas State Police have confirmed the man hit by a pickup truck has died. According to a preliminary crash report, 45-year-old Richard Timbs of Trumann was taken to Regional One in Memphis where a doctor later pronounced him dead.
Program eases license rules to lure back former teachers
